Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a legal agreement between you and the developer of the QR Scanner & Barcode Reader app (“we”, “us”, “our”) governing your use of the QR Scanner & Barcode Reader Android application, its updates and this website (together, the “app”).
By installing, accessing or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Security Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app and uninstall it.
2. The app and your licence
The app lets you scan QR codes and barcodes with your camera or from images, extract text from images, create and style codes, export the results, and keep a local record of your scans.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the app on devices that you own or control, for your own private or internal business use.
Some features are available only with a Pro subscription. We may add, modify or remove features over time, and we will not reduce the functionality of a paid subscription during its current billing period in a way that deprives you of the benefit you paid for.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area where applicable), or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use the app. If you subscribe to Pro, you must be authorised to use the payment method applied to the purchase.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app to break any law or to infringe the rights of others, including by scanning, creating or distributing codes that contain unlawful, fraudulent, malicious or deceptive content;
- use the app to create codes that impersonate another person or organisation, or that are intended to mislead people into revealing credentials, payments or personal information;
- copy, rent, lease, sublicense, sell, distribute or resell the app, or make it available to third parties as a service;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
- modify, translate or create derivative works of the app, or remove any proprietary notice;
- interfere with, overload, disrupt or attempt to circumvent the app’s security or technical protections, including advertising and purchase verification systems;
- use automated means to access the app, or use the app in a way that harms our service providers or other users.
5. Your content and scanned links
- You own your content. Text you enter to generate a code, images you choose and the scans you produce remain yours. We do not claim ownership, and we do not receive them.
- You are responsible. You are responsible for the content you scan, generate, store, export or share, and for having the necessary rights to do so.
- We do not verify destinations. A scanned code may point to a website, app, payment request, Wi-Fi network or other data controlled by third parties. We do not verify, endorse or take responsibility for those destinations, and we cannot guarantee that a code is safe or that its content is accurate.
- Check before you act. Review the decoded content shown in the app before opening links, confirming payments or joining networks.
- Decoding is best-effort. Damaged, poorly printed, low-contrast or heavily styled codes may fail to decode or may decode incorrectly. Some code types intentionally contain ambiguous characters; always verify important data.
- Back up what matters. History, notes and favourites are stored only on your device. They may be lost if you clear app data, uninstall the app, change device or if the device is lost or damaged.
6. Pro subscription and payments
- Billing through Google Play. Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Google Play. Payment is charged to your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- Price and period. The price, billing period and any promotional offer or free trial are shown in the app and in the Google Play purchase screen before you confirm. If a trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled in time.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for successive periods unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, or as otherwise stated in the Google Play purchase flow.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; access to Pro features continues until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play refund policy. Statutory rights you may have under local consumer law are not affected.
- Restoring purchases. If you reinstall the app or change device, use the restore purchase option in the app or the same Google account to regain Pro access.
- Price changes. We may change prices; a price change applies only after it is announced through Google Play and, where required, accepted by you.
7. Advertising
- The free version of the app displays advertising provided by Google AdMob, and may offer optional rewarded videos that you can choose to watch in exchange for temporarily unlocking a feature.
- Rewarded videos are always optional. Watching one is your choice, and the reward is granted only when the video is watched to completion.
- Where required by law, advertising consent is collected before personalised ads are used, and can be changed in Settings.
- Subscribing to Pro removes advertising from the app.
- We are not responsible for the products, services or claims of advertisers. Any interaction with an advertisement is between you and the advertiser.
8. Intellectual property
The app, including its software, design, logo, name, text, graphics and other content — excluding your own content — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a licence to use the app, not ownership of it. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Google, Android, Google Play and other marks are trademarks of their respective owners. Their use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement beyond the platform services the app uses.
9. Third-party services
The app relies on services provided by Google — including advertising, analytics, crash reporting, consent management and in-app purchases — and may open links to websites or other applications. Those services and destinations are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. See our Privacy Policy for details.
10. Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every device, that every code will be decoded correctly, that decoded content is accurate or safe, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any damage caused by content reached through a scanned code.
To the same extent, our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app or for a Pro subscription in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence remain unaffected.
12. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app or to Pro features if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the app. Where we discontinue a paid subscription without cause, we will provide a pro-rata refund or an alternative as required by applicable law.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — continue to apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, changes in the law or changes in our practices. The revised version is published on this page with a new date, and material changes are announced in the app or in the Google Play release notes. If you continue to use the app after an update takes effect, you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at the address below so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also have the option to use a national consumer dispute resolution body in your country of residence.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms, the app or a purchase can be sent to support.qrscanapp@gmail.com. For privacy-related requests, see our Privacy Policy.
16. General provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Security Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the app, and replace any earlier understanding on the same subject.
- Severability. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force and the affected provision is applied to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision on one occasion, we do not waive the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer our rights and obligations to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, provided your protections under these Terms are not reduced.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only, and the English version prevails to the extent permitted by law.
